The results of our little paintchat jam: IZZET TIME! by zeico, sketchydoodles, and myself. Because Izzet CLEARLY the most fun guild to draw? IT IS!
I’ll try to plan out/announce these art jams a little more ahead of time next time - the next jam will probably be during winter break/after finals (between christmas and new year’s)! For those of you who weren’t there/couldn’t make it - do you guys wanna do another guild theme or some other theme for the next jam? Let me know!
So I wanted to update my old as hell Izzet design for myself.
And get a chance to hit on Ral Zarek because he gives me dokidokis heheheheheYou’re tempting me to make my own Izzet design now. ._.;;;
Yes do it! We will be Izzet bros. And so much wonderful SCIENCE will be had!
SCIENCE! -exploding high-five-

So this is what I’ve been working on for the past couple of weeks: Hand-sewn RTR guild banners for my LGS, which I just finished an hour ago! (I started doing this before I found out that shops were getting banners and clocks, but oh well! they make nice curtains for my dorm too!)
So hey you guys remember that one embroidered RTR Izzet guild flag I fucked up on
I turned it into a FAAAAABULOUS purse/iPad case/gigantic cleaning cloth. Still need to make the shoulder strap but THERE YOU GO. My iPad 2 fits snugly into the bag - vertically or horizontally - along with other accessories (but I suppose the bag can be used as a regular man-purse-thing too, maybe even as a rudimentary playmat) - and the suedecloth makes for a fantastic cleaning implement for the tablet. Also, ehehehehehe HOUSE BELEREN HIDING UNDER THE IZZET CREST.
And oh yes, the back is plain too in case you want to hide your flamboyant Izzet pride. Not that you would want to, because IZZET THAT’S WHY.
Now on to the real flags that I hopefully won’t fuck up this time
Wow, it’s a really fabulous bag!
> HOUSE BELEREN HIDING UNDER THE IZZET CREST
The line sounds deeply significant I assumed… hee hee
>HOUSE BELEREN UNDER IZZET CREST
Yes, yes it is very significant tee hee. xD

The reason why I’ve postponed the Return to Ravnica Guild Minimalist Posters: I’ve been recently commissioned/requested by a friend/the tournament organizer at my LGS to sew banners for all ten guilds. Also, this is what my other desk looks like generally when I’m sewing things.
The Izzet banner there is a prototype/test flag, and after five hours of work I don’t exactly like the way the embroidery came out (the guild insignia was perfectly symmetrical until I sewed it in!), nor do I like the crinkling that resulted from the embroidery - and knowing how complex some of the other guild symbols are (Selesnya, Azorius, etc.), this simply will not do.
While I would be happy to keep it to hang in my room or as a sweet velvety pillow cover (gotta put it to SOME use, this IS suedecloth we’re talking about here), I don’t exactly feel comfortable having this displayed at my shop in this condition; what’s gonna happen is that I’m going to make another Izzet one, and from that one on, the decorations are going to be done with fabric paint instead of embroidery unless specifically requested.
The Guild leaders for the Return to Ravnica block.
Azorius: Isperia, sphinx
Rakdos: Rakdos, demon
Selesnya: Trostani, dryad triumvirate
Izzet: Niv-Mizzet, dragon
Golgari: Jarad, elf zombie
Dimir - Lazav, shapeshifter
Gruul - Borborygmos, cyclops
Orzhov - Obzedat, ghost council
Boros - Aurelia, angel
Simic - Zegana, merfolk

Wow guys, I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised this morning when I saw all the notes and responses to the House Beleren poster - thanks for all the likes and reblogs, I don’t think any of my artposts have gone over 100 notes before!
Anyway, after the House Beleren poster I decided I’d do at least a few of the guilds - starting with my favorites, of course - but seeing all the reactions I think I’ll try to do at least half of them (monstrouscontent has offered to do some grungy minimalist posters as well). So, here’s an Izzet poster for all you fellow mad scientists out there! Enjoy!
